I welcome HTML and JS as another way to develop apps, you know you already could do this with AIR. Just another way MS can open more doors to develop on it's platform, and that IMHO is a good thing. Unless MS is going to put serious effort into beefing up the capabilities of Javascript, I don't see .Net going away anytime in the future, though it will change, especially on the Silverlight/WPF end. And I disagree with the problem of adoption being MS not getting the word out about Silverlight, I think it was resistance by most of the MS developer pool to adopting Silverlight and WPF. Some devs loved both, did amazing things with them, but many were put off. A combination of the tooling, the layout of Silverlight, and the too rapid jumps in versions was the culprit, getting the word out wasn't. With HTML and JS, maybe Microsoft can capture some of the newer breed of developers out there, which MS needs to do if it is going to avoid going the way of Lotus Notes. Just saying. Most MS developers look at themselves as young hot shots, but the mirrors show balding late thirty / forty somethings...or older.
